Pirc Classical ...c6-GM Bologan

More
The fetaure game was played in the EU-Cup 24th Kallithea(GRE). Here is more on Kallithea.

Pirc Classical ...c6
The ..c6 leads to complex play and a symmetrical center is a common structure. One of the typical black ideas is play on the dark squares. GM Bologan fought for the central dark squares d4,f4 with ...Nh5 and eventually won a nice ending with the bishop pair.

Minsk,Belarus
The feature game was played in Minsk. Here is some background.

Hippo-8.Bf4
Black has a variety of plans in the Hippo. The featured game illustrates
-The flexible queenside pawn wall(diagram) after 15..c6
-Kingside expansion with ...h6/..g5

I was quite surprised to learn than the Hippo was in GM Bologan's repertoire. He took some risks but managed to overcome his opponent in the feature game.
